PAINT THE COW CONTEST
Mendocino Farms Sandwich Market in Campbell has selected Alta Vista as one of five local schools to participate in their “Paint the Cow” contest. And, just like the title says, we are going to actually paint a cow.
We have been given a cow that we will decorate and submit back to Mendocino Farms at the end of March. Mendocino Farms will display our cow at their restaurant, along with the cows submitted by the other schools. Restaurant diners will vote for their favorite. The cow with the most votes at the end of the voting period wins. The winning school will receive $1000 for their Art Program! If Alta Vista wins, we will get $1000 to go directly toward our Art Vistas Program!!
We are going to have a contest to decide what “theme/design” we would like our cow to have. Click here to download a cow template. We are asking all interested artists to sketch a design concept of how the cow should be painted/decorated. The actual cow that we are going to decorate will be in the main office, if your student would like to take a look at her before designing their concept. Your students design concept should be as specific as possible. Please have them indicate on their picture if/where they would like any added special effects (flowers, beads, feathers, etc.).
*Please note, the template provided is 8 ½” x 11”. If your student would like to create their design on a larger piece of paper, there is 11” x 17” copies available on the table in the office for them to use.
This contest is completely optional, and is open to all grade levels. We are asking that all entries be completed and returned to the School Office by 8:30 am, Monday, March 19th. Principal Thomas will be judging the contest, and the winners will be selected/notified on March 19th. Please make sure your student prints their name, grade, and teachers name on the back of their paper before they submit it.
The artists who submit the top three design concepts (chosen by Mr. Thomas) will be asked to participate in the execution of the winning design and will be painting/decorating the cow! The top three will also win a special prize!
