Project Linus
Thank you to everyone that helped with this year's Project Linus blanketeering event. We had over 20 Alta Vista students, families and alumni in attendance. We made 27 beautiful blankets that have already been delivered to Project Linus.
Thanksgiving Food Drive
Thank you for your support of another successful Thanksgiving Food Drive. We completed seven dropoffs to the farm workers in Watsonville, which wraps up the drive for another year! In addition to the 170 families to whom we provided our regular pair of boxes (each family gets two boxes - one perishables and one pantry staples), we also delivered over 50 turkeys and many boxes of non-perishable items to the Watsonville farm workers.
Alta Vista families and teachers alone sponsored 26 families and provided lots of donations of dry goods for our boxes. We also had volunteer support from Alta Vista families throughout this weekend and today as we gathered the donations, sorted and boxed, and delivered them to the recipients.

Project Linus Family Blanketeering Event: February 26, 10am on Zoom
Alta Vista Home and School Club is sponsoring a family-friendly blanketeering event with Project Linus and the Cupertino De Anza Lion Club. Families will join the event over Zoom at 10am on Saturday, February 26 and will be shown how to make fuzzy, cozy fleece blankets. The no-sew blankets that families make will be given to individuals in our community needing a warm blanket, including newborn babies, children in local hospitals and families in shelters. All ages are welcome, though children under 10 will likely need some adult supervision. All materials will be provided. Space is limited, so sign up early. If you sign up, please be sure you attend the event and make the blankets as Project Linus is counting on you! Please email [email protected] with any questions, and have fun!!
Alta Vista Cares: Thanksgiving Food Drive Update
Thanks to the generosity of Alta Vista community, we were able to provide boxes of food to 220 families!
In addition to donations of food and monetary contributions, members of the community joined it to sort donations and delivery boxes to local school distribution centers, the YMCA battered women's shelter and to farm workers in Watsonville. A special shout out goes to our very own kindergarten Girl Scout troop for their help!
